Striving to produce
golden retriever field puppies for performance and the home since 2003
Golden retriever puppies for the field ready about June 1, 2018! Bella's pups have whelped April 5 & 6! - All pups reserved at this time, however let us know if you would like to be included on our wait list in case of a cancellation.
Note: We have a couple people with deposits who only want ichthyosis-clear pups. We'll know by about four to five weeks of age if those reservations pass on carriers and we again have pups available at that point. (Carriers can still be bred and are not affected by Ichthyosis; to avoid producing affected pups they are, however, to be bred to clear mates. Those with deposits on Clear-only may already have dogs as carriers they intend to breed to, so it is just not a good fit otherwise.)

We anticipate pups to be intelligent, engaging with their owners, and good in the field with a lot of drive. Coloring will likely be medium to darker red.
We temperament test pups using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to help new owners make an informed choice as to the best fit for their family, and pups are reared in our home with our family and children.
Puppies have arrived! Above is a female pup from the current Bella x Ike litter. Please visit "Bella Floden" on Facebook for more litter photos as they grow!

If the timing of our litter if not the best for you, we highly recommend Jackie Mertens of Topbrass Goldens. We received a pup from her years ago that was trained to a master hunter (a full aunt to our Bella, dam of our current litter) and are very pleased with this breeder's knowledge and her experience. Families with pups from Floden Farm have reported good things! Some became dock divers, GRCA competitors, AKC field work, derby, and hunt testing, agility performers, hunters, service dogs and companion pups that are great with kids.
Some pups are available on full AKC Registration with performance and breeding potential. While we recommend visiting to help us select your puppy, shipping/handling is also available within the United States for a flat rate of $400, which includes vet check for flying, veterinary certificate for flying, breeder's travel to and from airport, and an airline approved shipping crate that you will be able to use at home.
Great genetics and potential
Minnesota Golden Retriever Puppy Hobby Breeder. Located in west central Minnesota, about 1-1/2 hours from Fargo, North Dakota, Floden Farm currently raises golden retriever puppies for the field in a home environment with children on our hobby farm. Our current dogs are "T-Rex" and "Bella," and we have an AKC registered litter of pups usually every couple of years or so.
Occasionally, we offer Kindergarten golden retriever puppies or started dogs. Our breeding dogs are health certified through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and are AKC registered. Shipping within the US is available.

Our philosophy is to keep an open mind ... Genetic testing and overall health is important while balancing genetic diversity within the golden retriever breed as more DNA tests to attain the 'perfect dog' are continually added. Knowledge is power, however we can grow along with diversity to work toward balanced results with health, temperament and trainability. It is important, too, to keep our golden retriever gene pool diverse while reducing genetic disorders. Keep in mind that in general, carriers, so long as not bred to other carriers or affecteds, will not produce a puppy affected with a certain disorder and can help expand the retriever gene pool while producing other clears in the same litter. Many other considerations such as trainability, temperament, conformation and how dogs compliment each other also go into the breeding process. If we only breed clear to clear, especially as new recessive mutations as discovered, our gene pool will be small and the chances of developing more mutations from higher COIs in the long run grows.
