Horace's ancestry includes a number of show and field champions. There are Hall of Fame Show Dogs in his ancestry, and many golden retrievers titled in United States (AM), UK, England (Eng.), Canadian (CAN), Mexican (Mex) and Bermuda (Bda.) competitions. Great-great-great-great grandfather to Horace is "Apollo," BISS BIS, GRCC Hall of Famer, and sire of 45 champions, including Am. Bda. Ch Lizzie's Gold-Rush Echo (#1 Golden Retriever in 1985). One of his many great-great-greats is Am.Can. Ch. Speedwell Pluto, one of the major foundation sires of the breed on this continent. "Pluto" was the first golden retriever to win Best In Show in North America in 1933, and was also regularly used for hunting. At just 8 weeks of age, Horace was already sitting and coming to us when called,as well as retrieving canvas bumpers.

Beisia is related to NAFC FC Topbrass Cotton OS/FDHF, Frisbies Olympia Gold, Frisbies Joshua (1990 MN State Derby Champion), the famous FC-AFC Benjamin Rajah Frisbie OS, and AFC Topbrass Super Trooper. We were excited to have been able to track her lineage back to 1896 to the United Kingdom on this database. According to the database, one of her great-great-greats was Eng. Dual CH. Anningsley Stingo (KCSB 1622QQ), born 6/30/1933. He was the second Dual Champion Golden in History. Beisia has a fabulous nose for flushing, and is very obedient. Our oldest daughter has competed with her in obedience. One of Beisia's pups from her last litter has gone to learn to work as a service dog.

T-Rex's sire, Ditto, became a Qualified All Age at 28 months with two first places, coming in second place twice, and placed third twice in Open Stakes. Ditto has 8 All Age Points. Ditto is darker in color, has excellent conformation, a stable temperament, and is a family pet as well as a winning obedience and field trial competitor. At almost 11 years of age, he is still healthy and sound. T-Rex's dam, Ginger, is not only beautiful but also very intelligent. She earned her MH title the summer of 2007, passing seven tests at just two years old. She qualified in 2008 for the Master National Test. Both T-Rex's sire and dam rate "Good" in hips, and we hope the same for T-Rex when he is tested at two years of age. T-Rex is an "old soul." Easy-going, and great around small children. He seems wise beyond his years. He loves to please and also enjoys retrieving.

Pez was bred as the culmination of 40 years of Jackie Mertens' Topbrass breeding program in hopes of producing that elusive "competitive field trial golden." Pez was retrieving full sized duck dokkens for us as soon as we brought her home at about 8 weeks of age. Paws, her dam, a fully trained field trial bitch and Amateur Field Champion, is rated OFA excellent for hips. Bro, her sire, is a hard charging field trial golden, having earned a spot on the National Derby list with 19 points to his credit. He earned his Field Championship and has an Amateur Win. Pez is a linebreeding on National Amateur Field Champion/Field Champion Topbrass Cotton, an Outstanding Sire and in the Field Dog Hall of Fame. Pez represents everything a golden should be - intelligent, driven, even- tempered, healthy, and loving with children.

Ruby is the lovechild of Horace and Beisia, which equates to about 3/4 field golden mixed in with 1/4 show golden lines. She is a very good-tempered pup with a love of retrieving. She is a "loose linebreeding" on Topbrass Cotton. She has nice, dark pigment and a wavy coat.

Zowie's lineage includes 1982 NFC-AFC Westwind Supernova Chief  and FC AFC Black Gold's Kates Rascal as her maternal great-great-great grandfathers. The Marathon Man ("Marty") was her great-great-great grandfather on both her parents' sides. I wondered why, and realized it was because he was the all-time high point yellow labrador. He was the high-point amateur dog in the U.S. three times. He also won the Canadian National Amateur Championship. Marty's grandfather was FC-AFC Candlewood's Mad Mouse. Zowie is our "alpha female." She participates in UKC hunt tests. We are working toward her started title.
