Check-in at 7am with tests starting at 8am Saturday
and Sunday at Elk Lake Heritage Preserve. Lunch available on site both days. Entry fees for UKC-registered
dogs are $40 for Started, $50 for Seasoned, and $60 for Finished. For each
entry, add $3 for NonUKC-registered dogs, and $5 for each
Seasoned/Finished entry of Non-HRC member owners (Saturday only). Add $5
per entry submitted after July 1, 2008.
Saturday evening (July 12) will feature a banquet, awards
presentation and raffle held at Elk Lake Heritage Preserve. Come early for happy hour -- beer
available, or BYOB. A raffle with great prizes follows the meal and
awards. Adults $12, ages 5-12 $6, under 5 free.

Retriever Seminar with Ed, 9am-12pm. $30 per person, ages 11 and under free. Dog training info and demonstrations ranging from basic through advanced levels will be presented. Dogs are welcome, but please have them kenneled. At the end of the seminar, a short hands-on session will be held for dog owners who have specific questions. Last meeting before
the Hunt Test! We’ll meet at Stintons at
6:30pm for dinner. Corinne will fix
her great Italian beef on buns. We’ll also provide baked beans and the
table service. It will be great if you can bring a side dish or dessert
to share. Please BYOB; we’ll have lemonade. We’ll try to eat around 7 or
so.
Bring your family if you
can—there are several spouses that haven’t met the group. The kids may
enjoy exploring the trails in the woods next to the lake. Bring your dog
if you want to hand throw some Dokkens in the
lake or the prairie before or after dinner, might be a good chance to
“socialize “ younger dogs if you like. Won’t be setting up the wingers.
We’ll have the meeting during
or after dinner. Be ready to commit
to your part in the Hunt Test if you haven’t already. Help
is needed Friday (7/13) afternoon to set up, Sat (7/14) 7AM on, and Sun
(7/15) 7AM on. If you haven’t given them to us already, bring your
premiums if you’re running
your dog, bring the raffle prizes
you’ve collected along with the raffle form. We would also like to know
how many tickets for
the Saturday night banquet you need ($12 each), though we’ll have some at
the door.

Training will again be at Elk
Lake on June 5, 6PM, all water retrieves this time, in the same field.
The training field is on
Sandy Hill Road , which is the north-south
road a couple miles east of the Elk Lake Preserve office—it is also the
county line road between Grant and Douglas Counties.
From Barrett: Travel
east on Grant County Route 2 to Sandy Hill road, then south on the gravel.
From
Alexandria: Go west on Douglas County Route 8 to Sandy Hill Road, then
south on the gravel about two miles. You can also reach Sandy Hill Road by
taking State Route 27 west from Alexandria or east from Hoffman, then turn
north at the intersection and go 4 or 5 miles on the gravel to the field.
Meeting, to follow retriever training at 7:30pm.
There will be a short business meeting on the tailgate after training if
the skeeters aren’t too bad. Bring your
completed raffle prize forms!

Directions: If you are traveling on the interstate, take the Fergus
Falls Highway 1 exit and go north. In about a mile where it jogs to
the right to go into Fergus, you take a left on Highway 15 ( towards
Orwell Dam ). Cross back over I-94 and go approxaimately a mile and
a half. Turn into the first driveway on the right after you cross
over the river. Take the lane along the river past the derelict
farm. If the bean fields aren’t planted yet, we can plan on parking
on them, otherwise we may have to park in the yard. The driveway is
approximately at the “w” in County Highway 15.

on Route 41 for 1.5 miles. North on Route 82 for a short half mile. Our
gravel drive is on the right, east side, just before you get to the lake.
